Should you start with a website or a dedicated app?

Choose an approach around what people need to do, rather than starting with a list of technologies.

How often will people return?

If customers mainly learn about your brand, view services and get in touch, a website can be a suitable starting point. They can open a link without installing anything.

If a product supports repeated daily tasks, a dedicated app may be worth considering. Frequency of use is only one factor, though; it does not automatically mean you need an app.

List the capabilities you really need

Does the product need to work offline, access device features or send notifications in a particular flow? Describe the situations rather than just naming features.

The development team needs to check these requirements on the target platform. Browsers and devices have different limits; do not assume every feature behaves the same way.

Plan for life after launch

Beyond design and development, consider updates, testing, user support and content management. A suitable solution must be something your team can maintain.

If the needs are unclear, start with a prototype of the most important flow. Testing with users makes the platform discussion more concrete.
